1. Pro version can capture emails when Add to Cart is clicked

Abandoned carts that do not have an email address are one of the most common complaints from our customers. In order to address this, we implemented this feature whereby when a customer clicks on the Add to Cart button, you can show a popup modal that asks for the email address.

The admin can make the popup mandatory or optional. If it is mandatory, then the customer will need to enter their email address before adding an item to the cart.

Add to cart Modal popup

The benefit of this is that the email address gets captured much earlier in the order process & as a result, if the cart is abandoned, there is a higher chance of recovering it.

The Add to Cart modal popup can be configured to show to your liking. You can read more about it here.

2. Dashboard Area available in both the Lite version and the Pro version

The Dashboard area is the most important part of both versions as it showcases all the aspects of the plugin on a single page. You can understand how many carts have been abandoned, what is the recovery status, how many emails were acknowledged by the customers, which template helped in persuading them to complete unfinished transactions, etc.

Therefore, the Abandoned Cart Pro plugin has an upper hand in the context of efficiency and performance over the version.

3. There is no WordPress Dashboard Widget in the Abandoned Cart Lite version unlike in the Pro version
WordPress Dashboard Widget is an area that provides a quick summary of the number of abandoned and recovered orders which helps the merchant to know the performance of his business after using the Abandoned Cart Pro plugin.

Hence all the required statistics of abandoned and recovered orders are displayed in a nutshell on the WordPress Dashboard.

There is no such thing as WordPress Dashboard widget in the Lite version and therefore this plugin falls short on performance to boost online sales.

4. There are many criteria under the Settings tab for using the Abandoned Cart Pro plugin effectively than the Lite version which only has a few criteria for Settings

There are many fields under the Settings tab of the Pro version which Enable abandoned cart emails, Cart abandoned cut-off time for logged-in users and Guest users, Automatically Delete Abandoned Orders after X days, Send the Abandoned cart emails to the admin, Track Coupons, Do not track carts of logged-in users and guest users, Enable tracking carts when a customer doesn’t enter details and Plugin License options.

All of these have been discussed in detail in the post on the Settings tab of the Abandoned Cart Pro for the WooCommerce plugin.

The Lite version, on the other hand, can set criteria for cart abandoned cut-off time, Automatically Delete Abandoned Orders after X days, Check if the cart is abandoned by guest client or logged-in user, Email admin On Order Recovery, etc. These settings do not serve the purpose of recovering a maximum number of lost customers to increase the overall online business.

5. The Sent Emails tab is not available in the Lite version of the plugin

There is an additional tab in the Pro plugin namely the Sent Emails tab which helps to keep a log of all emails sent, emails opened and links clicked which were attached to the reminder emails. It specifies the carts that were recovered via cart link or checkout link and also helps you know which email template was used to recover the lost sale.

All of this is not possible in the Abandoned Cart Lite plugin as it only provides details about carts that were abandoned and email templates that are used. Such basic information does not help you gain knowledge on the performance of the plugin in boosting the business.

6. Admin can check if the cart is abandoned by the guest client or logged-in user in the Pro version as well as the Lite version

Within the Pro and the Lite version, under the Abandoned Order tab, there is a column named ‘Customer Details’ which provides information like which user he is, his name, and contact number.

Thus admin of the can keep track of which user abandons the cart more frequently and take suitable action against it which cannot be possible within the Lite version.

7. Quantity and Coupon code columns within the Abandoned Order tab are available in both versions

Under the Abandoned Orders Tab, there are different columns detailing information on customer details whose carts are abandoned with the date and time when these were abandoned and the status of the cart. But there are additional three columns within the Pro version namely ‘Quantity’, ‘Coupon Code Used’, and ‘Coupon Status’.

8. There is a huge bundle of merge codes within the Pro version unlike in the Lite version which can be used while sending reminder emails

In the Lite version of the Abandoned Cart plugin, there are limited merge codes that can be used to send abandoned cart reminder emails, whereas the Pro version has a whole lot of different merge codes that provide variations that best suit the customer or situation.

The lite version has merge codes which can be used for only the Cart page while sending the reminder emails. On the other hand, in the Pro version, the merge codes can be used for the Cart page as well as the Checkout page which in turn provides better performance in recovering lost customers.

Moreover, there is a facility to add a button within the Pro version which is used for cart or checkout links in the email body. Therefore instead of having a link sent, you can place a ‘Cart’ or ‘Checkout’ button in the reminder email for customers to complete their transaction in just one click.

9. There is only one default template available in the Lite version whereas there are three in the Pro version

As we know about three default templates of Abandoned Cart Pro for the WooCommerce plugin and its functionalities, it becomes an essential part of the plugin to assist shop owners to quickly act upon specific situations while recovering lost customers.

There is only one default template available in the Abandoned Cart Lite version, thus limiting the usage of templates for sending reminder emails.

10. Generating and assigning coupon codes to abandoned cart reminder emails is possible using the Lite version

Abandoned Cart Lite version provides the facility to generate coupon codes which are discount codes given to the lost customers via reminder emails to have them back to the store to complete the unfinished transactions.

This is the most vital part of the Abandoned Cart for WooCommerce plugin as it plays a key factor in recovering lost sales and helps increase the overall business revenue.

Thus this can act as an important differentiating factor when choosing the plugin for Abandoned Carts.

11. You cannot track the total number of emails sent and the percentage of recovery in the Lite version

There are no columns like ‘Number of Emails Sent’, ‘Percentage Recovery’, and ‘Send to Segment(s)’ under the Email Templates tab of the Lite version as available in the Pro version.

These columns help the merchants to understand the number of abandoned cart reminder emails sent with respect to the abandoned carts and how many got converted to successful transactions thus contributing to recovery revenue.

12. The Abandoned Cart Pro plugin allows you to send reminder emails to a selected set of customers unlike in the Lite version

There is a facility within the Pro version to send reminder emails with specific email templates to a selected set of customers depending upon the type and demand them. This can be performed using the ‘Send to selected Segment(s)’ field on the Email Templates page while sending the reminder email to lost customers.

This setting is not available in the Lite version which makes it less scalable as compared to the Pro version.

13. Cut-off time for Guest users and Visitors can be set in the Pro version to track guest users as well

You have a setting in the Abandoned Cart Pro version to set a cut-off time for Guest users and visitors’ abandoned carts along with logged-in users.

This helps to capture as many lost customers as possible who get dropped after completing registration (logged-in users) or who enter only their name, mobile number, and email address and then get dropped (guest users) or those who come to the cart page with the wish of buying items and leave without making a purchase (visitors).

Thus this setting in the Pro version increases your chances of capturing maximum lost customers and acting upon them to convert them to happy customers by completing their incomplete transactions.

Also, in the Pro version, there are criteria for setting a different cut-off time for the guest user and logged-in user which can help admin to capture user carts as per the requirements.

If the admin decides to capture the guest cart before logged-in user carts, then he can set different cut-off times for guest users and for logged-in users.

The abandoned Cart Lite version is deprived of these settings which can be a drawback for its performance.

14. Visitor carts can be captured using the Abandoned Cart Pro and Lite versions

In the Abandoned Cart Pro version, you can capture the abandoned carts of Visitors. This will help to identify which products are abandoned by unknown customers and in turn, helps in the product reports.

15. Admin has a facility to receive reminder email notifications which are sent to lost customers using the Pro version

An abandoned Cart reminder email notification is sent to the admin on every abandonment of a cart using the Pro version. The admin is also notified once these abandoned carts are recovered.

Whereas in the Lite version of the Abandoned Cart plugin, the admin will only receive an email notification upon recovery of abandoned carts.

16. The Abandoned Cart Pro plugin helps you to send reminder emails automatically at a specifically assigned time unlike in Lite version

This is an advanced feature within the Pro version of the Abandoned Cart plugin which helps you to automatically set the timer for sending abandoned cart reminder emails on cart abandonment.

You have to enable the setting for sending automatic reminder emails and set the duration in minutes after which a WP-Cron job will run automatically for sending the abandoned cart reminder emails to the customers.

Also, the admin can uncheck the automatic setting and set the cron job from the Cpanel for performing the task manually.

In the Lite version, the timer is set to 15 minutes by default which means after every 15 minutes the plugin will check if reminder emails have to be sent to any new abandoned carts. Thus you have no automatic approach in the Lite version to set a specific time for cron to check for new abandoned carts.

17. You can exclude capturing specific abandoned carts using the Abandoned Cart Pro plugin

As we saw above the Pro version of this plugin helps you to capture logged-in users, guest users, and visitors so as to account for maximum recovery of lost sales.

But there is also a facility in the Pro version to restrict capturing of certain segments of users who may be due to spam or would not be accountable for an increase in online sales.

So you can choose to exclude capturing abandoned carts of specific users or user groups using the restriction settings of Abandoned Cart Pro for the WooCommerce plugin.

The Lite version does not offer any restriction settings and thus does not provide any advanced feature to help merchants take a call on capturing certain abandoned carts and decrease the spam which may affect the performance of the plugin.

18. Minimum time allotment for sending reminder emails after the cart gets abandoned is different in the Pro and Lite version

In the Pro version, Admin can set the minimum time for sending reminder emails from 1 minute after the cart gets abandoned whereas, in the Lite version, the minimum time set is 1 hour after cart abandonment.

Also, in the Pro version the admin can set values for template time between 1 – 59 (Minutes / Hours / Days) whereas in the Lite version admin can only set for 1 – 3 (Hours / Days)

19. Tracking of the abandoned cart reminder emails is possible using the Pro version

There is no tab named ‘Sent Emails‘ under the Abandoned Cart Lite plugin which showcases the number of abandoned carts sent along with the date and time when these were sent.

The Pro version, in turn, provides this facility under the Sent Emails tab with cart abandonment details as well as the type of link clicked which was provided in the email and which email template was used to send the reminder email as shown below:

sent_emails_tab - Differences between Pro and Lite versions of Abandoned Cart for WooCommerce plugin

Sent Emails tab within the Pro version

There is also a report shown above the results displayed which gives a total count of emails sent, emails opened as well and links clicked, thus broadening the view of the most important feature of Abandoned Cart Pro for WooCommerce plugin in recovering lost customers using reminder emails.

All these facilities are not possible within the Lite version of this plugin which actually hampers the usability of the plugin to serve its purpose of recovering sales.

20. The most important feature ‘Initiate Recovery’ is available in the Pro version but not in the Lite version

Initiate Recovery is a very useful feature added in the Pro version of the abandoned Cart plugin to help initiate a recovery process as per specific requirements after shopping carts get abandoned.

This feature is a part of the Abandoned Order tab and by clicking on it you can set the details of the email template along with the coupon codes that you wish to add in the reminder email.

This feature is not available in the Lite version and hence it cannot come on par with other competitive plugins to resolve the problem of cart abandonment.

21. You can limit the dumping of spam using the Abandoned Cart Pro plugin whereas this is not possible in the Lite version

In the Abandoned Cart Pro version, you can capture the IP Address of the users unlike in the Lite version. This feature helps the admin in restricting the customer if it is spam and thus keeping a tight check on unwanted entries.

The IP address will be displayed under the ‘View Order’s link of the Pro version as shown below:

22. Reports include the number of abandoned and recovered orders along with the amount abandoned and recovered in the Pro version unlike in the Lite version

The reports generated using the Lite version of the Abandoned Cart plugin restrict its results to the number of times a particular product was abandoned and recovered whereas the result of the Pro version details the product’s abandoned and recovered count as well as the amount of revenue abandoned and recovered for that specific product.

This can be shown below:

23. In Abandoned Cart, the Pro plugin admin can move abandoned orders, recovered orders, and sent emails to the trash and also delete abandoned orders permanently unlike in the Lite version

Admin has a provision to remove unwanted entries of abandoned orders, recovered orders and sent emails to the Pro version to keep only required logs and avoid confusion.

The Lite version is deprived of this feature and hence could cause a hectic situation in finding important logs from a massive range of records.

Also, once the records of abandoned orders are moved to trash, the admin can also delete them permanently which cannot be retrieved later. This is also not allowed using the Lite version as there are restricted features in it.

Conclusion

The above differences in the features of both versions of the Abandoned Cart plugin which results in different performances are especially showcased to bring out the vitality and benefits of using the Abandoned Cart Pro for WooCommerce plugin over the Lite version of this plugin to serve the main purpose of recovering lost customers.
