Generally, on the WooCommerce checkout page, all the fields for customer billing address or shipping address are compulsory to fill. Same as the other fields some of the businesses also requires the delivery date field too.
For example, for an online catering shop where you deliver food for the different types of events like Wedding, Birthday parties, etc. Here you want that your customers choose the event date on which they want the deliveries. So you can set the Delivery Date field mandatory on the checkout page from Order Delivery Date Pro for WooCommerce plugin.
You can setup this under Order Delivery Date -> General Settings -> Date Settings.
Delivery Date field required: Admin Settings
To set the Delivery Date field as a compulsory to required field on the checkout page, you need to check the Mandatory Field? checkbox.
Delivery Date field required: Checkout Page
If the field is set as required field there will be a red asterisk (*) mark next to the Delivery date field label. This mark indicates that the field is compulsory to fill and cannot be left out.
If the Delivery Date field is left out while placing the order, when the field is set as required, then it will display an Error as “Delivery Date is a required field”.
The customer then needs to select their preferred delivery date from the calendar and place the order. If you want the Delivery field as an optional field, then you can uncheck the checkbox mentioned above.
